March 2010 Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken, contrite heart you never scorn. Psalm 51:17
Dear Friend of the Marianists,
Thank you for your interest in the Marianist Mission. In our daily prayers we thank God for you and all of our supporters. We ask that you include us in your daily prayers as well.
The verse quoted above comes from King David’s “prayer of contrition.” It is a fitting verse for us to contemplate in this penitential season of Lent. By being mindful of our own shortcomings and approaching God with a truly contrite heart, we prepare ourselves to celebrate Christ’s Resurrection with thanksgiving and joy.
Even in this solemn season, we cannot help but joyfully thank all of our friends for the support they give us. We are joyful because these prayers and gifts enable us to continue sharing the love of Christ in so many ways.
I hope and pray that your Lenten journey will be a time of reflection and oneness with God.
In Christ,

Father Patrick J. Tonry, SM
Spiritual Director
